Serving Orlando Since 2011

We are a 5,500 square foot warehouse style building located in South Downtown Orlando near the corner of Michigan & Orange Avenue. You will find that each day at South Orlando CrossFit is varied. You are never doing the same workout twice. You can expect the WOD or “workout of the day” to last an hour. During that time you will be coached by a Level 1 Certified CrossFit Coach. Each class consists of the following:

Group Dynamic Warm-Up

This is catered to the WOD we will be doing that day

Strength or Skill

This is not on a set schedule and rotates depending on the day

Daily Workout of the Day (WOD)

We will go over the movements for the workout to ensure everyone understands the standard for that movement. Then it's 3, 2, 1, GO!

Prioritizing Your Safety

Our members’ health and safety is our top priority. We have new systems in place to help you feel comfortable while working out including enhanced cleaning procedures, sanitation stations, clearly marked platforms spaced 10’ apart for social distancing, and professional monthly disinfection of our facility and equipment using medical grade products.

Trevor Palmer / Owner/Head Coach - L2

Trevor was introduced to CrossFit in July of 2007 by a fellow firefighter and was hooked after doing his first WOD. He?s always been a person that likes to excel and be the best that he can be in anything that he does. CrossFit is challenging in itself, but it also improved his performance in his job and other aspects of his life. As a firefighter/paramedic, he saw on a daily basis the average person beginning to decline in activity and motivation as they got older. With this came a decrease in mobility, strength and dependence on others. Trevor truly believes that CrossFit can and will make a better life for him and the others around him because of the physical and mental demand that it requires. CrossFit has changed his life and he wants to pass that onto others.

Angela Chuk / Co-Owner - L2

Angela started CrossFit in 2012. Having no experience in team sports, she was apprehensive about how well she would be able to pick up the movements. Through years of steady coaching, a lot of encouragement, and consistent attendance, she developed strength and confidence and transformed mentally and physically. It became such a part of her lifestyle that it motivated her to obtain her CrossFit Level One certification in 2019, CrossFit Kids certification in 2020, and CF Level Two certification in 2022. Feeling capable, athletic, and strong, have been huge benefits for her, but the greatest takeaways haven't been the physical changes; she gained a larger community that has become a family. Angela has used SOCF as a platform for multiple community fundraising events benefiting the OnePulse Foundation, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, and a partnership with L.I.F.E. Orlando Mentoring Program. CrossFit truly enriched her life by introducing her to her now husband, Trevor, and making her proud mother of two sweet boys.

Steven Hicks / Coach - L3

Along with Trevor, Steve started doing CrossFit in 2007 while serving his community as a Firefighter/Paramedic. In 2009, both joined the former CrossFirebase. In late 2009, Steve received his Level 1 CrossFit certification and began his coaching career as an assistant. Beginning in early 2010, he commenced working towards his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science at the University of Central Florida. There, he assisted the Exercise Science Lab under some of the country’s most tenured professors and specialized in human performance. When Trevor opened the SOCF doors in 2011, Steve joined him working as Assistant Coach. During this time, Steve received his CrossFit Weightlifting and Mobility certifications. After finishing his degree in mid 2013, Steve then accepted a position as Head Coach at CrossFit Mousetrap in Lake Buena Vista. While at Mousetrap for almost three years, he worked full time, furthering his knowledge of CrossFit, strength and conditioning, education, customer service, gym management and even earning his Level 2 CrossFit certification. Lastly, in 2016, Coach Steve took some time off from coaching full time and returned to coaching at SOCF part time, where he has remained to this day.

Chelsea Dunshee / Coach - L1

Growing up in a small town in Louisiana I spent a lot of time playing sports outside with my older siblings and neighbors. The story really began when I was tossed into a pool to learn how to swim. Competitive swimming became my first passion at the age of 5, and then soccer for years later, and now the amazing sport of CrossFit. There were other sports in-between that helped prepare me for CrossFit like gymnastics, basketball, triathlons and cross country but they never got my full attention (must have needed a barbell in the mix). I began CrossFit in 2012, and started competing in local competitions in 2014. Some competitions included WODapalooza, Bacon Beatdown, Crush Games and Throwdown Fitness Fest. My favorite workouts are short and include cleans, kettle bell swings and handstand pushups. Least favorites have pushups and running. Yes, I want to skip Murph every year. I still enjoy swimming and cannot wait for my next CrossFit competition or triathlon. I received my CrossFit Level 1 certification in 2015.

James Gregory / Coach - L1

James began his CrossFit journey in January 2017 after moving to a different city and leaving his old gym behind. Before CrossFit, James was a competitive Strongman Athlete and solely focused on gaining muscular strength. James was also an assistant coach at a fitness and cross training gym where he coached bootcamp-style classes that focused on functional fitness and metabolic conditioning. Since finding CrossFit, James has been hooked on the variety and opportunity. Now, he is motivated more than ever to get in the gym to get his sweat on. This motivation not only cultivates the desire to learn and grow as a CrossFit athlete, but also motivates him to spread his love for fitness through coaching. James' greatest takeaway from CrossFit so far, like most people's, has been the camaraderie in the community. Nowhere else can you find so many people encouraging you with those feel-good family vibes.

Santi Lopez / Coach - L1

Santi was introduced to CrossFit in 2018. He was born and raised in Venezuela. He played many sports, but focused on tennis and soccer. He started weightlifting to add to his sports performance. He moved to the U.S. in 2013 looking for a better future. He kept playing sports as a hobby and frequented the gym, until he tried his first CrossFit class and fell in love with it. It gave him that same feeling of being alive just like when he used to compete in sports as a kid. After a year of doing CrossFit, he decided to go deeper into the sport. He got his CrossFit Level 1 certificate and started coaching. He took weightlifting classes and kept learning anything he could about how to get better as a coach and as an athlete. When he thinks about CrossFit, he sees a great, loving community. He sees a place where the people and coaches are there to help you and push you into being a better person overall. He has felt like a family member of the SOCF community since day one, because they care and are there for you and for all of the members.

Nancy Grant / Coach - L1

Nancy grew up in a family where everyone was involved in fitness, from running and weightlifting to playing tennis and kayaking. She began teaching aerobics at the age of 19. Nancy also loved weightlifting and bodybuilding and competed in her 20’s. She went on to teach many different types of group exercise classes including Step, Slide, Hip Hop, Jump Rope, Boot Camp, Spin, and several Les Mills classes, such as, BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyAttack, and Core. She has competed in several triathlons, half marathons, and adventure races. She loves pushing herself in the gym and is always up for a challenge. When she first tried CrossFit in 2018, she was humbled and completely hooked! Receiving her Level 1 certification was a rewarding experience, and she feels very privileged to get to share her love of ‘constantly varied movement’ with an amazing CrossFit community that feels like family!

  • 5 star review  I did not expect to like CrossFit. Now that that is out of the way, I love this place. The coaching staff is fantastic and are always willing to work with me. That says a lot, because I'm pretty needy. I don't have a very athletic background, so I'm often (if not always) the slowest one in the gym, but they give me the perfect amount of encouragement to get me through the workouts. I never thought I would say I enjoy going to a gym, let alone look forward to coming back each time.

  • 5 star review  It took me a long time to find a CrossFit that I liked in Orlando. I was so used to my old one that nothing else could compete...until I found SOCF! Seriously love this place. Not only do they take pride in their facility by keeping it clean and having quality workout gear, they make you feel welcomed. Crossfit isn?t just about getting ripped...it?s about a community! This place has it all! And to have a chiropractor on site is definitely a perk. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for that team work atmosphere where you will get pushed to be the best version of yourself

  • 5 star review  The community at this gym is amazing! So supportive and encouraging all the time. I have a weird work schedule but they have a lot of class options and an open gym time so I never can use my work as an excuse not to work out. I started with fundamentals and the owners and coaches were very helpful and non-judgmental, now 12 weeks in I have lost weight and feel so strong!

  • 5 star review  I came to Orlando for spring break, and South Orlando Crossfit was the first gym I visited and it set the bar pretty high for the rest of the gyms! The facility was very clean and organized! The coach, Christian, was very nice! And the workout was a lot of fun! Overall, would definitely recommend this gym to all of my Crossfit buddies!
