Trevor Palmer – Co-Owner/Head Trainer

Trevor was introduced to CrossFit in July of 2007 by a fellow firefighter and was hooked after doing his first WOD. He’s always been a person that likes to excel and be the best that he can be in anything that he does. CrossFit is challenging in itself but it also improved his performance in his job and other aspects of his life. As a firefighter/paramedic, he saw on a daily basis the average person beginning to decline in activity and motivation as they get older. With this comes decrease in mobility, strength and dependence on others. Trevor truly believes that CrossFit can and will make a better life for him and the others around him because of the physical and mental demand that it requires. CrossFit has changed his life and he wants to pass that onto others. We only live once and we need to live it to the fullest and be ready and dependable when life calls on us for either yourself, family and friends. Crossfit is the catalyst that will take you there.

Samantha Palmer – Co-Owner/Trainer
Samantha grew up dancing and being active with softball however after college she found that working a 8am-5pm job that she needed some type of physical activity. After having a membership at a globo gym that was never used due to not having the motivation to workout on her own and being unsure of what she should be doing Samantha found what she was looking for with CrossFit. She was first introduced to CrossFit by Trevor at the 2009 Southeast Regional Competition where he competed. After seeing the caliber of athletes there she decided to give it a try and went in for her first WOD at the beginning of May 2009. After that she was hooked and loved the idea of the workout being different each day, the camaraderie of the people she works out with, and being able to push herself further than she thought she could. Samantha never envisioned that she could lift close to 200lbs at one time. She looks forward to motivating new athletes to reach their goals and achieve what they never thought they could possibly do!

Christian Carillo – Trainer
Christian found CrossFit about two years ago. After a very long break from any physical activity, he like most people started lifting weights at his local globo gym. After all the supplements and bench press he found CrossFit from a couple of friends at work. Obviously he was very curious and began doing WOD’s at the gym. That didn’t last long because gym management didn’t like him dropping the weights, apparently it didn’t mesh well with the elliptical machines. He was more than excited when he found out a CrossFit gym was opening nearby. He went in and introduced himself immediately, he was hooked from the minute he walked in the door. After 9 months of training and helping where he could around the box, he decided to get his level 1, started coaching and hasn’t looked back.

James Rutledge – Trainer
For most of his life he has loved working out and lifting but grew tired and bored with the monotony of globo gyms. He wanted to be in the best shape possible, and lifting weights and some running and swimming just weren’t cutting it. He wanted to be fit in all aspects, not just look fit. He became involved with CrossFit after he saw the CrossFit Games on Youtube while working a hotel security job 3rd shift one night and I was blown away by the workouts, and the fact that there were actually gyms that trained in this capacity. He found a box the next morning as soon as he got off shift, made his first ever “paleo” smoothie, then proceeded into the unknown world of CF. His first WOD was October 2011. It was intimidating walking into the box, then being told he was only going to work out for 10 minutes through him off guard because how could one get a workout in only 10 minutes? He had the advantage on his first WOD because it was a 1/2 Cindy, 10 minutes of 5 pull-ups, 10 pushups, and 15 squats. In the 10 minutes, he did 12 rounds breaking the gym record and then immediately ran to the trash can and lost his breakfast smoothie. From that moment on, he never looked back, CrossFit was for him. James loves the community, the lifestyle, and pushing himself and others to their true athletic potential every workout. He’s not sure where he would be without CrossFit, but he does know he couldn’t be any happier!
Interesting fact – he has dextrocardia; his heart is backwards.
